Cash (check) is the most convenient form of giving. cash gifts are fully deductible for income tax purposes, provided deductions are itemized.
Pledge enables a donor to plan a personal giving program that is both conveninent and tax-wise. With a pledge, a donor may be able to make a larger overall gift than would otherwise be possible. Gift amounts of $1,000 and above can be pledged and completed/paid by December 31, 2017.
Securities may be used as payment for one-time or pledged gifts. Appreciated securities gifted directly to the Foundation are not subject to capital gains tax. To determine deductubility of gifts of appreciated securities, please consult your tax professional.
Special IRA Gift Provision – The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 has been extended through 2013 to allow charitable gifts from an IRA for taxpayers 70 1/2 years old or older. Please consult your tax professional or investment advisor to see if this provision is applicable to your situation.
Gifts in Memory of/in Honor Of can be made by a donor for a loved-one, family or family member, friend, organization, etc. Both the donor and the one being memorialized or honored will be recognized, while the financial and tax implications stay with the donor.
Matching Gifts – many employers will match a donor’s charitable gift. Please contact your Human Resource Office for additional information.
